LAKE FOREST, CALIF. – September
22, 2015 – Schneider Electric Software,
a global leader in industry software and part of Schneider Electric, today
announced its Wonderware InTouch human machine interface
software has won a 2015 UX Design award. The award honors outstanding design
and user orientation in products, digital solutions and services, part of an
annual competition managed by the International Design Center of Berlin
and presented at the IFA Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin the week of
September 7.
UX
Design Award winners were determined by a panel of independent and expert
jurists, each with different competencies and specializations, thus ensuring a
balanced evaluation of the various entries in the fields of user orientation
and design quality. Fifty product
solutions from 13 countries were nominated during this year’s IFA show. The award criteria is based on the user experience
and takes a comprehensive view of how users interact with the nominated
products and services, including the emotional, cognitive, aesthetic and
ergonomic aspects and context of use, user integration, serviceability, design
quality and degree of innovation.
According
to the jurists’ decision, “Wonderware
InTouch HMI software provides high clarity and fault tolerance to improve the
user experience and increase efficiency in industrial production processes. A
clear and intuitive design aims at unambiguousness and an intuitive grasp of information.
The UX Design thus helps to reduce operator fatigue, as well as failure rates
and efficiency gaps.”
“InTouch
software and its situational awareness capabilities have been proven to help
maximize productivity and availability while minimizing costs, such as raw
materials, energy consumption and waste,” said John Krajewski, director of HMI
and SCADA product management for Schneider Electric Software. “For example, because
InTouch software’s situational awareness graphics allow
operators to track current processes more easily and intuitively, they can access
and troubleshoot abnormal situations 40 percent faster than when using standard
HMI tools. That means they are taking a proactive part in improving the plant’s
productivity, safety and efficiency. This is a perfect example of why Schneider
Electric is more than an HMI solutions provider, and it reinforces our
commitment to enabling greater operations optimization, problem resolution and
workforce improvements to help our customers wring more value from their
business operations.”
