Three different methods for displaying information in a XY Trend using InTouch Machine Edition

This application demonstrates how to display information in a XYTrend using three different methods using the InTouch Machine Edition 2014 R2 (v8.0+Patch1).

 1. Using the Trend Control and Data Source “Database” (in this example, Data.mdb, stored in the application’s directory).

You can insert or update data in the data in “real-time” and trigger a command for the Trend Control to reload data from the database and update the information on the screen.

2. Using the Trend Control and Data Source “Text File” (in this example, Data.csv, stored in the application’s directory). You can insert or update data in the data in “real-time” and trigger a command for the Trend Control to reload data from the text file and update the information on the screen.

3. Using the Legacy Trend to display information from an array tag (in this example, TrendLegacy[1..10].x and TrendLegacy[1..10].y array tags for the x and y axis, respectively). You can modify the values of the array tags in “real-time” and the legacy Trend object will update the information on the screen.

Remarks: Even though the Legacy Trend is arguably easier to configure to update online data in a XY plot, it should be used as last resort (in case the solution with the Trend Control is not acceptable). In order to add a Legacy Trend in your screen, you can follow the steps below:

a. Click on the drop-down control to customize the toolbar from the ribbon interface, and select “More Commands”

b. In the “Choose Commands From” combo-box, select “Graphics Tools | Graphics”, scroll down the list of commands, select “Trend (Legacy)” and click on the “Add” button.

c. When editing screens, you can add a Trend (Legacy) object by clicking on its icon from the Quick Access Toolbar.
